It Could Happen...

Walt: rewrite a story in 5 sentences.

It Could Happen ...

Overnight the whole world change one colour to another each year except one blue - jay bird. The girls thought the world changing colours was luck and the boys though it was neat. Scientists tried to find out why the world kept changing colours. Then the world changed blue and everyone lost interest in the bird, so they set it free. Still no one knows why the blue - jay bird did not change colour.

Length Of Chains

Length Of Chains
Walt: Arrange length in order.
        Find mean, median, mode and range.
         Explain the differences in length.
Pairs
Length of Chain in centimetres
Ben and Dion
86
Wesley and Koliata
169
Lorenzo and Liam
170
Ifa and Tane
192
Shanelle and Alyssa
192
Andrea and Lana
200
Ketura and Serena
220
Stephanie and Cherish
286
Petuana and Yazmin
304
Munokoa and Samuel
320
Viliami and Howard
383
Mean = 229.272727273 cm
Rounded Off = 229.3 cm
Median = 200 cm
Mode = 192 cm
Range = 297 cm

The reasons why the shortest chain is 86 cm and the longest chain is 383 cm is because they measured their individual chain to either be thick or thin, which would make it short or long. Also they might have used the length side which would create longer chains or they used the width side which would have made smaller chains.

Food Tech - Poster

During our second to last food tech class this year, we had to create a poster. I made mine about my favourite dish out of all the classes and I did mine about a sponge cake. I listed the ingredients down and I also wrote how to do a chocolate sponge cake. We only have one class left so I hope we are going to do something fun. I can't wait to do it all again next year.

Reading Easttle

Screenshot 2015-11-17 at 11.39.09 AM.png

I received a 4p from my Reading E-Asttle. I was disappointed because I dropped from my last test. I need to work on my structure and to use important information. Though I did get a lot of strengths. I am just above the blue line which is where I am supposed to be. Next I need to work on inferences.

Maths E-Asttle

Screenshot 2015-11-17 at 11.51.03 AM.png
I completed my Maths E Asttle test and I got a 5p. I am proud as I have improved from my last score. I did well in Number Sense and Operation.  I need to work on explaining negative numbers and many other things. I am hoping to receive a 5A next time I do an E Asttle test. Next time I would like to improve on Algebra.

Tessellation

Walt: draw a tessellation pattern.

I had to create a pattern using four colours and I had to chose a design. I enjoyed it though it took a lot of my time to complete. I am hoping to do more challenging patterns.

Shape Mods

Walt: revise rotation, reflection and translation.

In this game I had to get the green triangle to the red triangle. It was hard in the beginning but now I know how to do it. I got up to level 11 and there was 18 levels. I had difficulties with rotation because I don’t know what degree to set it to. I need to try and get all the way up to level 18 and try to get everything correct.

The All Blacks In Victoria Park

Yesterday the 4th of November 2015, the All Blacks had a parade in Victoria Park. As it was a school day, I was not allowed to go and meet the All Blacks. Next time it should be held during the weekend or after school hours. Congratulations All Blacks for winning us another RWC.

Tin Foil Art

For art we experimented with tin foil. I drew an owl because it was simple and I am not a good artist. I used different coloured markers to fill in my art. I enjoyed doing art.

RWC Final Rm 11 - Double Bar Graph

Screenshot 2015-11-02 at 9.42.02 AM.png
Walt: use online tools to draw a double bar graph.
Watched:                       Didn’t Watch:
B: 10                              B: 3
G: 5                                G: 7

I created my own double bar graph to see how many students in my class watched and didn't watch the RWC final. We collected the data with the show of hands. I think that most girls didn't watch the game because they weren't interested in rugby, didn’t have sky or didn't wake up early enough in the morning to watch the game. On Friday we made a prediction and Robin was the closest with 32 - 17 as the final score was 34 - 17.
