Netbook Reflection 2013

Netbook Reflection 2013

Big Question:
How has having a netbook connected to the internet helped my learning this year?

Using a netbook connected to the internet has helped me because I can go on sumdog and practise my addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. I can practice my writing using story starters on different sites. I can also practice writing comments on blogs. I use popplet to brainstorm my ideas for my writing. I use pixlr, sumo paint and google draw illustrations for my writings. I can use google presentation to write down what I have learnt. I learn keyboard shortcuts and I can do reading comprehension to help me improve my reading . I can practice my fractions and times tables on studyladder. I learn how to upload posts on my blog. I can use google search to look for information and facts for our topic study.

Having a computer connected to the internet outside of school helps me to practice writing comments on blogs. I also help my mum write quality comments. I practice writing on my google docs and I do more comprehension worksheets. I practice my multiplication on Sumdog to check if I get them all right. I play maths games so I can learn my geometry and measurement. I also practice my time on study ladder.

I can do this all just by going on the internet. Having the internet at school helps me with my school work. Having the internet at home makes me learn more. Practicing on the internet everywhere I go makes me learn more than on books.

Detective Story

My story was about a detective meeting a famous singer. I had put Chris brown as the famous singer. I tried to not make my story too long because it wouldn't all fit on one page. I would like to try and make a better story than this one because I love to write and I might want to be a writer when I grow up.

My Class Movie For Manaiakalani Film Festival 2013

This year I was overjoyed by what was on the huge screen at the Sylvia Park theatre. I was watching the videos at the Manaiakalani Film Festival. The movies were remarkable and I couldn't stop watching. In Room 10, we made our own movie about blog commenting. We did commenting because we had watched a video that actually inspired us from Mrs Yollis’ class. It helps us learn how to write more positive and specific comments on other blogs. We had got a lot of ideas from Mrs Yollis’ video and they really gave us a lot of information for us to actually create our own movie. My teacher encouraged me to speak in front of the camera. That was really challenging because I’m really nervous in front of cameras and I do not like photos of me. I kept practising on camera and in the end I actually enjoyed the camera filming me. It made me feel famous. My teacher gave us a lot of time to practise in front of the camera.
I was really excited about getting our chromebooks this year because that means that we get to make our movie to share for the first time ever. I really enjoyed the part in our movie when we did the dance. It was a good exercise for everyone. My teacher did a song about technology. We all screamed technology at the end of our dance and I think that was a good ending for our video. I know everyone who has watched our movie from Room 10 will know how to create a positive and specific comment. We helped a lot of children by making our movie because this was their first time they had performed for a giant crowd. I think that they were just all nervous about doing the movie. I now know how to create and edit a video for me to share with everyone. Now my class will start creating another video for the Manaiakalani Film Festival next year!

Father's Day Poem

My Father

He is not just my dad
But a very good friend
And he will always be there for me
From start to the end

He always works
Day and night
And when he comes home
He shines so bright

My dad is like a star
Way up in the night sky
He is like an angel
That can fly

He made me laugh
When I was down
He even dressed up
As a really funny clown
He appreciates the things
That he gets
He will always keep it
And he will never forget

He always uses his manners
And he shares his things
He is really mighty and kind
Like a king

He hugs me when I have a nightmare
Or when I am upset
And we will always go outside
To see the sunset

He is always there
When things are bad
He’s also my best friend
And that’s the one I call Dad!
