Enlargement In Geometry

Walt: enlarge a picture.

I learnt how to enlarge pictures by 2 scale factors. I counted the squares to make sure I drew my picture on the correct square. I found this a bit challenging as I had to make sure that I copied my picture accurately on the grid. Next I would like to enlarge a picture by 3 scale factors. 

Area And Perimeter

In this game, I had to find the area and perimeter of the shape. I found this game easy because I knew how to work out area and perimeter. The area is section inside the shape and perimeter is the barrier around the shape. Next I would like to try to find the area and perimeter of bigger and irregular shapes.

Boomerang - Angles

In this game I had to make an acute, obtuse and right angle boomerangs. I found this easy as an acute angle is less than 90o, an obtuse angle is more than 90o but less than 180o and a right angle is 90o. I would like to try a more complex game.

Equivalent Fractions

In this game I had to find the equivalent fraction. I found this game really easy, as it was just for revision. My score was 18600 and I was ranked 11th. I would like to play a more complexed game so that it really challenges me. 

Maths E-Asttle

I had done a Maths E-Asttle test and I had received my results. I am very proud of my result but I am still trying to achieve my goal which is to get a 5A. I do need to make a lot of progress to achieve my goal. 

Order Of Operations Millionaire

WALHT: use the order of operations - BEDMAS to solve problems.

This online activity was for me to practice the order of operations. I found the game easy because I knew my times tables and I could work it out mentally. I think I got a good score of 3015000. Next I would like to learn algebra.

Order Of Operations

In this game I had to answer simple problems. I found this game a bit difficult as I only had 1 minute to answer as many problems as possible. To play this game I needed to know the rules of Bedmas. My high score was 19. I enjoyed this game as it made me think faster and it made me concentrated on my task. I would like to play this game again and try to beat my high score. Next I would like to try more complex problems on the same subject.  

Corn Maths

We were learning to estimate many parts of a cob of sweetcorn. I worked with Nataliya and Ketura. We first had to estimate, then we had to find the actual number. Our estimation was closest to the row of kernels there were. I found it a little bit hard as our estimations were way off. We needed to use tidy numbers. Working in a group was interesting because we all had different estimations. Next I would like to revise probability.      

E-Ako Maths - Fractions

Walt: solve problems using fractions.

In this game I had to solve problems using fractions. I had to answer questions using the answers true or false. It was easy because I knew how to work out fractions. I got 100% as my score. Next I would like to do more complex fraction problem.

Maths E-Asttle

I completed my Maths E Asttle test and I got a 5p. I am proud as I have improved from my last score. I did well in Number Sense and Operation.  I need to work on explaining negative numbers and many other things. I am hoping to receive a 5A next time I do an E Asttle test. Next time I would like to improve on Algebra.

Shape Mods

Walt: revise rotation, reflection and translation.

In this game I had to get the green triangle to the red triangle. It was hard in the beginning but now I know how to do it. I got up to level 11 and there was 18 levels. I had difficulties with rotation because I don’t know what degree to set it to. I need to try and get all the way up to level 18 and try to get everything correct.

Math Easttle Results - Term 3 2015

Walt: study my easttle results.

This is my maths Easttle results for term 3. I feel great that I have a 5b but that is the same result that I got in my last test. I need to work on devising a strategy to solve a fraction number problem and to explain the meaning of the digits in any whole number. I will do exercises and activities to help me. I’m hoping to achieve my goal of getting a 5a.

Solving Decimal Problems

Walt: solve decimal problems.

In this maths game I had to solve each decimal problem. I needed to know how to subtract and add decimals. It was easy except for question four. My answer was 4.25 secs but that wasn’t correct. Next time I would like to try question four again.

Area Of Shapes.

Walt: find area.

In this game, I had to find all the shapes with the correct area. I needed to know how to find area and how to multiply. I got 14/14 correct. Next time I would like to learn more about perimeter.

Adding And Subtracting Fractions.

Walt: add and subtract fractions.

In this game I have to answer fraction questions. I needed to know my fractions, subtraction and addition. This was easy for me because I already knew all of the above. Next time I would like to beat my time.

Solving Problems With Proportion

Walt: solve problems with proportion.

In this game I needed to know proportion and ratio. This was easy because I have been practicing on this in class. I had answered 30 questions and I got them all correct. Next I would like to do more complex ratio and proportion activities.  

Basic Facts

 











Walt: practice our basic facts

This is my basic facts results. I needed to know how to convert decimals into percentages and how to convert percentages to a fraction. Also I needed to know if the fraction is the same of greater or less than the other fraction and my factors, multiples and place value. I got 1 wrong in percentages, fractions and decimals and I got 1 wrong in factors and multiples. It was challenging but I got better and better. Next I would like to get 100% in the basic facts.

Problems For Equations

Walt:  write problems for equations.

I choose the most challenging equations because I really wanted to challenge myself. Finding the answer for the equations was really easy. Using the correct language was difficult for me. I would like to have even more challenging equations to challenge myself. 

Maths E-asttle

This is my maths results for 2015. As you can see I am above the national standard because I got  5b. To improve I need to learn my mean, median, mode and range. Then I can use this knowledge to solve maths problems. Hopefully this will give me a better e-asttle result. I am proud of my result because I thought that I was going to get a 4b.

Word Problems

In this activity I had to answer the questions that was on the note. I had to buy an amount of flapjacks under the amount of money given. I knew that I could only afford to buy two flapjacks. I paid the correct amount of money. I would like to do more complex activities like this one.
